A woman’s relationship with her hair stylist is intense, to say the least. With the holiday season around the corner and a slew of big events on the way – Thanksgiving, to start with – it’s important to get your appointments in and find the right hair stylist to take care of your locks.
While your usual stylist might be perfect for the routine cut and color, finding a stylist who can style your hair to perfection for that big New Years Eve or Christmas party is a bit trickier.
Here are some tips to keep in mind on your quest to find the perfect hair stylist.
- Word of Mouth – Asking your friends should definitely be your first step towards finding a fantastic hair stylist. Knowing where your friends get their amazing styles from can narrow down your search and build some comfort when making a final decision. Key questions to keep in mind: What did your friend get done? Is it similar to what you’re also looking to get done?
- Social media – Check out a stylists’ Instagram or Facebook page reviews before booking an appointment. While some stylists may be fantastic at what they do, they may not always fit your style. Also, if you are looking for someone who does something specific, i.e. braided up-dos, this can give you a glimpse as to their experience with it. You can also use your own social media to ask for recommendations.
- Review sites – Yelp and Foursquare reviews would be a fantastic resource to tap on your site. You can search for a salon close to home, or look up a salon or stylist that a friend has recommended. You can also get a feel for what services they excel at based on the reviews.
- Bring some pictures – if this is a new style you’re trying with your stylist or your first time with a brand new stylist, it helps to bring pictures of what you like. Browsing Pinterest for some ideas would probably help you give your stylist a clear idea of the look you’re going for.
